Support and Capacity-Building
Based on requests from national malaria programmes, AMP provides globally recognized expert technical assistance through distance-based and in-country missions to help countries successfully plan and execute complex ITN distribution campaigns, in line with national malaria strategic plans. Technical assistance is provided in an intensive format or as a light touch and time-bound support to requesting countries. Since 2004, AMP has supported countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. AMP supports NMPs and their partners to distribute ITNs effectively and efficiently, including new ITN types to address insecticide resistance.
AMP supports countries to track operational issues and planning and implementation of campaign components, such as digitalization or social and behaviour change, to identify common challenges and mitigation measures to improve efficiency and use of financial resources.
Countries participate in AMP-organized workshops, webinars and trainings aimed at strengthening and sharing the skills of national malaria programmes and partner organization staff in ITN campaign planning, logistics, social and behaviour change, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, continuous distribution and digitalization
In 2024, AMP supported twenty countries with the planning and implementation of ITN distribution activities through technical assistance (TA) missions and support from the AMP staff. For more information, see the AMP 2024 Annual Report.
Updates from active countries are provided every week during the AMP weekly conference call on Wednesday at 10AM EDT. Sitreps from AMP technical assistance missions can be found under the Resources section.

Operational Guidance
AMP collaborates with global partners to develop and publish operational guidance and recommendations for countries to improve the efficiency, reach and impact of their ITN campaigns. The guidance includes adaptable tools that national malaria programmes can refine and use in their own context. AMP also develops case studies based on countries’ experiences to facilitate experience sharing and iterative learning.
All documents published by the AMP or its partners can be found in the Resource library.
AMP also provides operational guidance through comprehensive toolkits focused on (1) ITN mass distribution campaigns, (2) ITN continuous distribution (CD) and (3) ITN distribution in complex operating environments (COE). The extensively consulted ITN toolkits serve as base documents and are complemented by the addition of resources and tools of different kinds, such as case studies, reports, assessment tools and operational guidance documents based on experiences from countries implementing ITN distribution in a wide variety of contexts.
Coordination of partners involved in ITN distribution activities
AMP supports its members and their partners to track operational issues and planning and implementation of ITN distributions of all kinds to identify common challenges and mitigation measures to improve efficiency and use of financial resources.
The AMP Partnership convenes a weekly call each Wednesday at 10AM EST to provide updates on countries with active technical assistance for ITN distribution activities. These weekly calls are also an opportunity to highlight and discuss critical achievements and challenges that are affecting the Partnership and ITN distributions globally. All partners are encouraged to join the call.
