Insecticide-treated net (ITN) distribution operations: considerations for optimizing limited resources
This new toolkit contains operational guidance for national malaria programmes having to make decisions about future ITN campaign distribution in environments facing limited funding, reduced resources and higher commodity costs. Organized in eight sections covering the themed areas of: 1. Global guidance, 2. Macroplanning, 3. Microplanning, 4. Logistics and supply chain management, 5. Training, 6. Data, supervision and monitoring, 7. Digitalization and 8. Social and behaviour change, the toolkit is designed to be interactive and easy to navigate.
Delivering ITNs cost-effectively helps maximize impact, freeing up budgets to buy more ITNs or to support other key programme areas. Options for cutting costs while maintaining quality are presented, and while these are not exhaustive, they supply a good basis for considerations on how to adapt the guidance to each country’s specific context.
This document is based on the seven-part series on ITN campaigns in resource-constrained contexts and the country experiences presented during the AMP Technical Assistance monthly calls. The presentations and recordings are available here.
