Logistics
Effective logistics are at the heart of every successful long-lasting insecticide-treated net (LLIN) mass distribution campaign. As outlined in Chapter 5 of the AMP Mass Campaign Toolkit (English | Français), logistics ensure that the right goods reach the right place, in the right quantity and condition, at the right time and cost.
In addition to the core chapter, this page brings together logistics briefs on key areas of practice. Complementary resources include guidance on transport dispatch, the Commodity Management Audit (CMA) implementation package, the Sudan LLINs tracking system, and the use of containers, providing practical examples that can be adapted to different country contexts.
Logistic briefs
These briefs provide updated and supplementary material to accompany Chapter 5 of the AMP Mass Campaign Toolkit (English | Français). Some briefs replace or expand sections of the chapter with new recommendations, while others offer additional guidance on specific topics. Together, they capture lessons learned and evolving practices to strengthen logistics planning and implementation for ITN mass distribution campaigns.

Commodity Management Audit (CMA) implementation package
Systems need to be in place to ensure that the millions of dollars’ worth and huge quantities of commodities, in this case bed nets, reach beneficiaries in the most effective and efficient manner possible. The logistics exercise is a huge and complex operation, requiring meticulous documentation and well-trained staff, security of the commodities, transparency and accountability. In addition to accountability and value for money, donors require the knowledge that their investment is being handled in an efficient and timely fashion. To demonstrate all this, an audit of the LLIN supply chain can document and measure quality of handling and levels of accountability in the various processes and steps that are taken to make LLINs available to beneficiaries at distribution points.

Barcode scanning for ITN supply chain programming
This guidance document provides an overview of the barcoding and barcode scanning technologies available for, and in use within, discrete elements of ITN supply chain operations as of 2025. It further elaborates where and under what circumstances the incorporation of these technologies and associated processes should be considered to achieve end-to-end supply chain visibility.
The SOPs complement the guidance on planning the use of barcode scanning for ITN supply chains at the country level and can be adapted to fit the specific country context and supply chain design.
